~Avicenna~
1978 was a remarkable year in the University’s history, since foreign citizens got an opportunity to study medicine at this educational institution.
Sub-department of Russian Language, chaired by O. Petrushenko, was created with the purpose of strengthening connections of the syllabus with future professional activity and achieving better results in training students’ communicative, lingual and sociocultural competences.
Department of Russian Language, chaired by Ph.D. in Philology G. Vasylenko, was founded in 1979 as a part of pre-university courses for foreign students.
Russian Language Department of primary faculties was created in 1980 and chaired by L. Klimova; later Ph.D. in Philology L. Baranova was appointed as Chairman of the Department.
In 1993, the primary faculty and the pre-university courses united into Department of Russian language chaired by Ph.D. in Philology professor G. Vasylenko (on the photo below).
The Department’s history comprises following stages:
1979-1991: Formation of the educational system directed on the efficient work with the medical students who came from Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America took place in this period; scientific research was commenced in equal measure. The Department staff studied the ways of better adaptation of foreign students to new social surrounding and surveyed effective language-teaching techniques with the purpose of promoting the efficiency of students’ further training in basic subjects.
